Abuja, Nigeria – Get ready to be inspired as ordinary Nigerians pay tribute to the extraordinary valor displayed by their fellow citizens during the 2023 elections.

A wide range of nominees was considered from different sectors and regions, including youths/social media influencers, clergy, professionals, activists, media, politics, socio-cultural, entertainment, captains of industry, and civil service, among others

The highly anticipated 2024 Courageous Citizens Award, powered by the Nigerian American Coalition for Justice and Democracy (NACJD), is set to take place on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at the prestigious Sandralia Hotel in Jabi, Abuja.

Under the theme “Acts and Voices of Valor: Celebrating Uncommon Heroes of Democracy & Good Governance,” this grand event promises to shine a spotlight on the unsung heroes who fearlessly fought for a better Nigeria.

2024 Courageous Citizens Award conveying, Powered by the Nigerian American Coalition for Justice and Democracy with the THEME, “ACTS AND VOICES OF VALOR: CELEBRATING UNCOMMON HEROES OF DEMOCRACY & GOOD GOVERNANCE”.

DATE: SATURDAY, JUNE 1, 2024, TIME 11 AM, VENUE: SANDRALIA HOTEL, 1 SOLOMON LAR WAY, JABI, ABUJA will be abuzz with excitement and anticipation.

The Courageous Citizens Award has attracted a diverse range of nominees from various sectors and regions. From youths and social media influencers to clergy, professionals, activists, media personalities, politicians, sociocultural figures, entertainment icons, captains of industry, and civil servants, the nominees represent the mosaic of Nigerian society.

Out of thousands of nominations, the selection process was nothing short of arduous. Painstakingly, over 60 individuals were chosen to receive the historic Courageous Citizens Award. The awards will be presented in three distinguished categories: the Courageous Citizens Medal of Valor (CCMV), the Courageous Citizens Order of Freedom (CCOF), and the highest honor, the Courageous Citizens Order of Distinction (CCOD).

The guest list for this momentous occasion reads like a who’s who of Nigerian leaders and influencers. Notable personalities such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Peter Obi, Senator Ningi, Professor Nnenna Oti, Jennifer Efidi, James Osita (aka Flag Boy), Iyabo Ojo, Sarikin Dariya, and Sera Ibrahim are among the guests.

Over 60 people have been painfully selected for awards, from thousands of nominations.

These historic awards are in 3 categories namely the Courageous Citizens Medal of Valor (CCMV), Courageous Citizens Order of Freedom (CCOF) and the highest Courageous Citizens Order of Distinction (CCOD).

“Courageous Citizens Awards are the highest citizens conferred   national recognition to celebrate ordinary Nigerians who demonstrated extraordinary bravery and courage, during the 2023 elections, often risking their lives to make a significant public impact in advancing the cause of true democracy and a better Nigeria.”

In a statement, Professor Eddie Oparaoji, Chairman of the Planning Committee for the Courageous Citizens Award Project, spoke passionately about the purpose and mission of these prestigious awards.
