The 2022 season seven of the Big Brother Naija reality show will begin on July 23 and 24 respectively.
Multichoice Nigeria has announced the date for the launch of its seventh edition of BBNaija season 7 will be launched on July 23 and 24, 2022.
The organisers, in a press briefing on Tuesday, said the entry was over 40,000 people auditioned to be part of the reality show.
The seventh season will commence with a double launch show on Saturday, 23 July and Sunday, 24 July 2022. The 2022 season 7 grand prize will be N100 million for this year’s winner.
This makes it the highest grand prize a winner of the reality show will be receiving since the BBNaija debuted in 2006.
Busola Tejumola, head of content, West Africa channels of Multichoice Nigeria, said the winner of the BBNaija 2022 season will take home N50 million cash prize with another N50 million worth of prizes from the sponsors.
The reality show will premiere with two opening ceremonies on July 23 and 24. It will air from 7 pm on DStv channel 198 and GOtv channel 29 with a simulcast on Africa Magic Showcase, Africa Magic Urban, and Africa Magic Family.
The organisers also said there will be no SMS voting for season 7, adding that fans will now be able to vote for their favourite housemates for free on BBNaija’s official website and mobile app as well as on the MyDStv and MyGOtv apps.
This year’s edition of BBNaija will run for 72 days that is 10 weeks and end on October 2, 2022.
The programme premiere will be aired on DSTV channel 198 and GOTV channel 29 by 7:00pm on both days.

The first season of the reality show aired in 2006 and was won by a scriptwriter and production assistant, Katung Aduwak, with the grand prize of $100,000.
There was 11 years gap before the second season (See Gobe) of the show commenced on January 22, 2017. That season was eventually won by Warri, Delta State-born rapper, Efe Ejeba, who got the grand prize of N25m.
In 2018, the third season (Double Wahala) followed and was won by a pilot, Miracle Igbokwe. Igbokwe got N25m, a brand new Hyundai Tuscon SUV, home appliances worth N3m and a trip for two to an exotic location, as well as a year’s supply of Pepsi and Aquafina water.
The 2019 season, tagged ‘Pepper Dem’, was won by a video vixen and entrepreneur, Mercy Eke, who took home N30m, an Innoson SUV said to be worth N25m, a trip to Dubai and other prizes.
The fifth season of the show was held in 2020 amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and was aptly tagged the ‘Lockdown Edition’. It was won by another rapper and graduate of the University of Lagos, Olamilekan Agbeleshe, aka Laycon, who took home N30m, an Innoson Motors SUV worth N30m, a two-bedroom apartment, a trip to Dublin, Ireland, and other prizes. While Whitemoney won the 2021 edition and got N90m worth of prizes.
Both shows will air from 7pm on Africa Magic Showcase, Africa Magic Urban, and Africa Magic Family channels, and the 24-hour show on DStv channel 198 and GOtv channel 29. BBNaija fans across Africa will also watch the show live via the African online streaming service, Showmax.
