Osun Election: Victor Adoji Congratulates Adeleke, Says Turnout A Huge Indication Of Genuine Interests.

Victor Adoji, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, for the
Kogi East Senatorial seat
has congratulated Osun State Governor-elect, Ademola Adeleke, on his
victory at Saturday’s governorship election in the state.
In his reaction, he said for the fact that it is traditional to
congratulate success, I would wholeheartedly say a huge
congratulations to the Governor-Elect of Osun state, Senator Ademola
Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The Independent National Electoral Commission declared Adeleke, who is
the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, as the winner of the
Osun governorship election.
The Returning Officer for the election and Vice Chancellor of the
University of Lagos, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, announced that Adeleke
got a total of 403,371 votes beating the incumbent, Adegboyega Oyetola
of the All Progressives Congress, who got 375,027 votes in a keenly
contested race.
He said, “I declare Adeleke Ademola Jackson Nurudeen, on behalf of the
chairman of INEC, of the PDP, having satisfied the requirement of the
law, is hereby declared the winner and he is returned elected.”
According to the total votes recorded by the electoral umpire, the PDP
won 17 of the 30 Local Government Areas of the state, while the APC
won the remaining 13.
“However, I shall allot the biggest chunk of my congratulations to the
new electoral process, impartiality of the umpire and the fortitude of
the Osun electorates” he said.
The former banker, told Waka About Africa that it was clear, election
thugs and the miscreants in the fold of the umpire have been advised
on new lines of businesses as seen in the futile attempt on the part
of the thugs to upend the process in Ife. “Upon the plethora of
complaints INEC simply enjoined the public not to worry because the
‘real’ collation officer (the INEC server) already had the results” he
noted.
But reacting to Adeleke’s victory in a statement to Waka About Africa
on Sunday night, Adoji, who was a former banker with Zenith bank
congratulated the governor-elect, on his “victory”.
Justifying the outcome of the election, Adoji said, “people, in most
part, did either of two things: collected money but voted their
consciences. second, refused to collect money and voted based on their
convictions. The turnout was a huge indication of genuine interests”.
“In the fullness of time, votes or voters truly count and winning
elections is now a function of the people, inter alia. Obviously, the
dialectics and dynamics have changed and continue on a positive
trajectory berthing interesting times ahead”, Adoji adviced.
The PDP won in Ede North, Ede South, Ifelodun, Boluwaduro, Egbedore,
Odo Otin, Osogbo, Ila, Atakumosa West, Olorunda, Ilesa West, Obokun,
Oriade, Orolu, Ife North, Irepodun, and Ejigbo LGAs.
While the APC won in Boripe, Ilesa East, Ayedire, Ifedayo, Ife
Central, Ayedaade, Iwo, Olaoluwa, Isokan, Atakumosa East, Irewole, Ife
South, and Ife East LGAs.
